The case for capital that intends to stay.
Finsbury Holdings exists to be the kind of owner that good businesses too rarely meet — patient, hands-on when it helps, and unhurried by any obligation to sell.
Built around a simple disagreement with the prevailing model.
Most private capital arrives with a countdown already running. Finsbury Holdings was founded on the belief that the best businesses are built by owners who are free to think in decades — and that the capital backing them should be free to do the same.
We are a private holdings group, structured to own. That means our capital is permanent, our obligations are to the businesses we own, and our decisions are made by the people who live with them. We are not a fund with investors to return at a fixed date; we are an owner, answerable for the long run.
The group invests across a focused set of sectors in the UK, Europe and the Middle East, and operates businesses of its own — applying its philosophy in practice rather than only in theory.
Four commitments that shape every decision.
These are not aspirations. They are the conditions under which we are willing to own a business.
Permanence over speed
We choose what to own carefully and keep it carefully. A decision made to look good next quarter is rarely the right one for the business in the next decade.
Stewardship, not extraction
We reinvest in the businesses we own — in people, equipment and capability — rather than stripping them to justify a price. The business comes first.
Alignment with people
We back capable managers and we mean it. Those who build the value keep a meaningful share of it, and stay in roles where they can continue to lead.
Discretion and plain dealing
We move quietly, keep confidences, and say what we mean. Our reputation rests on a small number of relationships handled well, not on volume.
Principled, in the technical sense.
Our approach is consistent across every business we touch — a small set of disciplines applied with judgement rather than a playbook imposed without thought.
A horizon without a clock
Because we are not bound to a fund life, we make decisions on their own merits — holding, reinvesting or selling only when it is right for the business.
Founders welcome to stay
Selling a business should not mean being shown the door. We structure transactions so that those who wish to remain can do so, with authority and equity.
Operational depth, lightly applied
We bring finance, governance and operational expertise — and the discipline to use it only where it moves the business forward.
Reputation before scale
We would rather own fewer businesses well than many businesses indifferently. Every relationship is conducted so that the next one is still possible.
A small, senior team — and a discipline against growth for its own sake.
Finsbury Holdings is deliberately compact, so that the people who decide are the people who own the consequences. Rather than named individuals, the work is organised around the capabilities the group brings to every business it holds.

European Technical — the philosophy, in practice.
Among the group’s companies is European Technical, our UAE-based technical and building-services business. It is the clearest illustration of the kind of enterprise Finsbury Holdings looks to own.
European Technical is a licensed Dubai operator delivering home and commercial maintenance across the emirate — air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, painting and decorating, handyman work, appliance repair, pest control, cleaning and annual maintenance contracts. It is durable, service-led and built on the reputation of its work — precisely the qualities we seek, and the standard we hold ourselves to as an owner.
For the group, it is also a living reminder that the businesses on our register are real: real customers, real staff, real standards. Ownership is not an abstraction here.
